Quick answer

Winter Comet Violet Purple Contact Lenses are a saturated violet purple with a dotted mesh pattern and a glossy highlight. If you want one pair to carry an entire outfit, start here — and yes, you can wear them on an ordinary weekday.

What the Shade Looks Like

The close-up shows a true violet base, not pastel. Color stays lighter and slightly sheer around the center, then builds outward, so the middle-to-edge transition is soft rather than a hard ring. The texture is a fine dot mesh — evenly spaced pigment specks that give a stippled, fabric-like grain instead of a flat wash. A bright white highlight sits near the top of the lens, and that gloss makes the violet look wet in light. The outer rim is a deeper grape tone, a step darker than the main field, so the edge reads polished.

What to Wear With Purple

1. Clean contrast. White poplin, grey wool trousers, silver studs. The violet becomes the one intentional color in the frame.

2. Tonal and soft. Lavender cashmere, cream denim, rose-gold jewelry. Lilac on lilac makes the lens look brighter by comparison.

3. Night-out edge. Black slip dress or leather jacket, deep plum lip, thin silver chain. Satin and leather catch light the same way the lens does.

Where They Fit

Coffee-shop work sessions, weekend errands, travel photos, birthday dinners, concerts, and costume shoots. On camera they read clearly violet without looking filtered.

Everyday Wear: Yes

This is a bold violet, so it works best with a simple outfit and light eye makeup. Keep lids neutral and the lip bare for daytime; save heavier liner for evenings.

  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
