Quick Answer

Winter Bruges Grey Contact Lenses are a smoky, soft-focus pair with a warm brown core that fades into a quiet grey haze on the eye. They are grey contact lenses for bare skin and one coat of mascara.

What the Shade Looks Like

Up close, the deepest color sits through the center and mid-iris, where it reads as a warm, dense cocoa-brown. Instead of ending in a ring, the brown thins outward into a hazy grey-brown edge, so the overall read is smoky grey rather than chocolate. There is no hard rim — just a soft dissolve across the iris. The finish stays satin rather than mirror-glossy, so it catches daylight quietly.

What to Wear With Grey

Grey gets easy the moment your outfit picks up one cool neutral.

  1. Winter White and Soft Wool. Cream cable knit, an ivory wool coat, camel leather boots, brushed gold hoops. The cream keeps the grey from turning icy.
  2. Charcoal Tailoring and Silver. A grey blazer over a fine black turtleneck, dark straight-leg denim, small silver hoops. Structured, but still daylight-friendly.
  3. Slate Denim and Taupe Suede. Faded grey denim, a slate-blue crewneck, a taupe suede jacket. Add berry balm.

Where They Fit

They shine in daylight — coffee runs, work days of video calls, a weekend in a new city, a low-key dinner. They also work in photos and dressed-up evenings, or as a soft base for a party or cosplay look.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Winter Bruges Grey is a clear yes for everyday wear. The brown core keeps it from reading flatly grey, and the soft edge keeps it from looking drawn on. Wear it with minimal makeup and neutral clothing; it is a weak pick only for a bright, high-contrast eye.

FAQ

What color do these lenses look like? The center and mid-iris are a warm, dense brown, and the outer area dissolves into a grey-brown haze, so the eye reads smoky grey.

What should I wear with grey contact lenses? Cream, camel, charcoal, slate and black are the easiest partners; gold warms the look, silver cools it, and one berry accent keeps it from going flat.

Are they good for everyday wear? Yes — with no-makeup makeup, a sheer base and one coat of mascara, they read soft and real in daylight.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
