Quick answer

Vienna Moon Velvet Black Contact Lenses give the iris a soft, diffused black depth with a warm brown core, so the eye looks deeper without a hard ring.

What the Shade Looks Like

The close-up shows an inky black outer field that holds a warm dark brown through the center and mid iris. There is no thick outer rim, so the black melts into the eye instead of drawing a line around it. The finish is a soft, fine grain rather than a defined dot ring, which gives the surface quiet depth instead of a printed look. Nothing reads as a shine ring, so the shade stays soft and shadowy.

What to Wear With Black

1. Daylight neutrals. Cream ribbed knit, straight-leg denim, camel wool coat and small gold hoops.

2. Monochrome night. Black silk shirt, tailored blazer, brushed silver earrings and leather ankle boots.

3. Soft contrast. Dove grey suit, a white tee, oat linen shirt and pearl studs. Keep makeup minimal with a skin tint, groomed brows and a nude lip.

Where They Fit

Desk days, long flights, café meetings, birthday dinners and quick daylight photos. They also work as a quiet base under bold costume makeup if you cosplay or go to themed parties.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes. The blend is quiet enough for a bare face and office lighting, and the depth is strong enough for evening photos. Skip them if you want an obvious special-effect lens; this one is subtle by design.

FAQ

What color are these lenses? Velvet black with a warm brown center, so the iris gains depth instead of going flat.

What should I pair with black contact lenses? Cream, camel, grey and denim keep the look natural; black silk and silver make it sharper at night.

Can I wear them every day? Yes — they suit desk days, travel and dinners alike, and they read subtle rather than dramatic.

  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
