Quick Answer

Venice Serene Cherry Red Contact Lenses are a high-pigment cherry red with a deeper crimson rim. They read as bold statement color, not a natural eye tone, and that is the point.

What the Shade Looks Like

The close-up shows a saturated cherry red. Around the pupil it opens into a lighter, translucent pink-red, then fills out into full cherry through the middle before settling into a deeper crimson rim.

The texture is a fine dotted mesh radiating outward, so the red never looks like a flat printed disc. A soft gloss highlight sits near the top center, and the rim stays diffused.

What to Wear With Red

Red contact lenses do the talking here, so keep everything else intentional.

1. Black and silver. A leather moto jacket, a plain white tee, dark straight jeans, and small silver hoops. The cool metal echoes the lens highlight.

2. Cream and rose gold. An oatmeal cable-knit sweater, taupe wide-leg trousers, rose-gold jewelry, and a muted berry lip. This softens the red into something romantic.

3. Burgundy and denim. A deep burgundy slip dress under a washed denim jacket, or a maroon knit with charcoal denim. Tonal reds read deliberate.

Where They Fit

Parties, live music, and photo shoots suit them best, since saturated red reads instantly on camera. They also anchor a red-and-black cosplay or costume look. For weekend travel, treat them as the focal point.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one caveat: the pigment is strong, so this is styling, not subtlety. With neutral clothing and simple liner they carry a full day of errands or a dinner out.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
