Quick answer

Velvet Petal Cocoa Brown Contact Lenses are the pair to reach for when you want brown contact lenses that warm your natural eye color instead of covering it. The blend is the whole story.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up, the center is a deep chocolate brown that eases into a lighter, milkier cocoa toward the outer edge. There is no dark rim and no hard ring, so the line between lens and iris stays soft.

A fine dot pattern gives the color a diffused, almost airbrushed look rather than a visible mesh, and the surface catches a low, soft highlight over the pupil. Nothing reads printed. If past brown lenses looked flat on you, this one is the gentler read.

What to Wear With Brown

1. Warm Neutrals. A camel trench, an oatmeal knit, and brushed gold hoops pull the same warmth out of the lens; add tan boots and a berry lip.

2. Chocolate and Cream. A chocolate silk slip dress with a cream blazer and pewter jewelry works for dinner, with matte bronze shadow to match.

3. Denim and Espresso. Mid-wash denim, an espresso suede jacket, and a brown leather bag feel casual but intentional; rose-gold accents soften it.

Where They Fit

These are everyday brown contact lenses first: office days, coffee runs, travel, and long dinners. They photograph beautifully for portraits and finish a soft glam look or a low-key party outfit. Skip them when you want a bright, high-contrast lens for a costume.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes — with one caveat. Under office lighting they stay quiet and natural, which is why they work Monday to Friday. In warm evening light the chocolate deepens and looks richer, so adjust your makeup instead of expecting the same intensity after dark.

FAQ

What color are these brown contact lenses?

A soft chocolate brown that fades into lighter cocoa at the edge, with no dark outer rim.

What should I wear with them?

Warm neutrals, chocolate, cream, and denim all flatter the shade; brushed gold and rose-gold jewelry keep the tone cohesive.

Can I wear them every day?

Yes for most everyday situations. The finish is quiet enough for work and school, though the color looks richer in warm evening light.

Contact Lens Care Guidelines

  • We recommend a rub and rinse before soaking soft lenses for a minimum of 6 hours in their container.
  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

  • Replace your contact lens case every two to three months.

  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
