Quick answer

Velvet Peony Ember Brown Contact Lenses are a soft glam brown lens: a cocoa-brown base, a fine dot-mesh blend and no hard outer ring. If you want brown contact lenses that read polished on camera, start here.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up the base is a soft cocoa brown, deepest at the pupil and lifting into a lighter ember-brown mid-field. The blend is dotted, not streaked: fine brown dots soften the transition instead of drawing a line. There’s no dark rim and no charcoal edge, and the finish is matte rather than — the pattern just fades into a warmer, honeyed brown.

What to Wear With Brown

1. Champagne bridal. A satin cowl-neck slip, a fine gold chain, a taupe smoky eye. The brown repeats the gold without matching it.

2. Camel and cream for work. Ivory knit blazer, camel wide-leg trousers, cream silk shell, pearl studs — office-ready.

3. Black-tie with bronze. Black column dress, bronze drop earrings, satin clutch, glossy nude lip. Bronze keeps black from turning severe.

Where They Fit

Weddings and bridal showers, prom photos, anniversary dinners. It also works on a workday and in travel photos, where it looks like very good light on your eyes. It’s a beauty lens, not a costume one.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one caveat: this is a polished everyday lens, not a bold one. It reads best with blended makeup and simple metals. For a loud party, choose more edge.

FAQ

What color are these brown contact lenses? Cocoa brown, an ember-brown mid-field, a fine dot mesh and no dark ring.

What should I wear with them? Champagne and gold at night, camel and cream by day, bronze with black for dressier plans.

Can I wear them every day? Yes — subtle in daylight and in flash photos, so it’s easy to repeat.

  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
