Quick answer
Velvet Mist Indigo Blue Contact Lenses are a cool, full-coverage blue with a fine dot texture and no hard outer ring. The indigo wash runs across the whole iris, so these blue contact lenses read as styling rather than costume.
What the Shade Looks Like
The color covers the iris edge to edge instead of fading at the middle, which is why it looks so even up close. It lands on a muted cornflower-indigo: cool, slightly dusty, never neon. A fine dot mesh runs through the field, giving the surface a soft, fabric-like grain and stopping the blue from flattening into a solid print. There is no dark ring outside — the color simply softens toward the edge, so it stays calm in daylight.
What to Wear With Blue
-
Crisp neutrals. White poplin, cream knit, pale grey wool and a thin silver chain — cool blue looks polished against clean whites.
-
Warm earth tones. Oatmeal linen, a camel coat, tobacco suede boots and brushed gold hoops. Soft browns make indigo feel calmer.
-
Denim on denim. Light-wash jeans with chambray, or a navy blazer over a grey tee. Keep the blues at different depths so the eyes lead.
Where They Fit
Office days, weekend errands, long train rides and travel photos all suit this shade. It also works for a low-key dinner, a party, or a convention look when you want blue eyes without a full costume.
Everyday Wear: Yes
This is an everyday blue. Full coverage and an even dot texture keep it from looking patchy, and the muted tone sits well with no-makeup makeup. Skip it only if you want a barely-there tint — this one is a deliberate wash of color.
FAQ

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
