Quick Answer

Velvet Lily Brown Contact Lenses are a mid-brown gradient lens with a fine dotted mesh and an edge that fades instead of stopping at a hard rim.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a true mid brown, a little warmer and lighter at the center, deepening toward the edge. There’s no dark ring — the color softens and blends away, so the eye keeps its own shape. A fine dot mesh runs across the lens field, giving the brown a powdery, velvety finish, and the shine you see comes from the eye itself.

What to Wear With Brown

Brown reads warm and neutral, so pair it with soft texture and one metal tone.

  1. Cream, oat and camel. Ribbed oat knit, camel wool coat, tan boots, gold hoops.
  2. Navy, charcoal and white. Navy blazer, charcoal trousers, white tee, silver hoops.
  3. Blush, dusty rose and denim. Blush cardigan or a rose slip dress with rose-gold jewelry.

Where They Fit

Office days, brunch, errands, long travel days and photo sessions in natural light. They also work as a quiet base under bolder party or cosplay makeup.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes — this is an easy daily lens. The gradient and mesh stay subtle in daylight, and the edge never looks drawn-on. Keep eye makeup light; heavy liner fights the softness.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
