Quick Answer
Velvet Gala Amber Brown Contact Lenses are soft glam brown contact lenses: a warm milk-brown center that deepens into an amber edge, built for blended shadow, fluttery lashes and glowing skin.
What the Shade Looks Like
In the close-up the base reads as a light warm brown through the middle, then steps down into a deeper brown band toward the edge. The field is a fine dotted mesh, with the dots packed tighter at the outer edge — that is what softens the transition instead of drawing a line. There is no printed graphic and no hard dark ring, so your own eye depth still shows through. The surface photographs soft and diffused.
What to Wear With Brown
-
Champagne Gala — a champagne satin slip dress, thin gold hoops, a brushed gold cuff and nude heels.
-
Cocoa Dinner — a cocoa leather jacket over an ivory silk camisole, dark chocolate trousers and brushed silver jewelry.
-
Bridal Light — an ivory crepe dress or a cream cashmere crewneck with oatmeal tailoring, pearl studs and tan suede boots.
Where They Fit
Weddings, engagement dinners, prom, holiday parties and studio portraits are the obvious spots — anywhere the light is soft and the camera is close. They also travel well: a linen shirt at brunch or a plain knit at the office keeps the look easy. On a cosplay night they sit quietly under heavier shadow.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Because the pattern stays quiet, this is a shade you can wear on a normal Tuesday. It works with bare skin, brows and mascara. The one time I would skip it is a makeup-free day when you want your own eye color completely untouched — the warm brown still shifts the tone, so a little definition keeps it looking intentional.
FAQ
What color is this lens, really? A warm milk brown with a deeper band at the edge and a fine dotted mesh through the middle — no red or grey cast.
What should I wear with brown contact lenses? Cream, ivory, camel and chocolate in satin, silk, cashmere or leather, plus one metal — gold for warmth, silver to cool it down.
Can I wear them every day? Yes — work, errands and travel all work, and they hold up at night. Save them for a makeup day if you want your own eye color untouched.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
