Quick answer

Velvet Frost Blue Contact Lenses are blue contact lenses with a soft glam finish: a pale glacier-blue base, a fine dot fade and a thin, deeper rim. Polished rather than costumed, they suit weddings and evening photos.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a cool, milky glacier blue — closer to pale periwinkle than to bright sky blue. The center stays quiet, then opens into tiny blue dots that pack tighter toward the edge, so the color melts into a hazy ring instead of a hard line. The rim is a fine, slightly deeper blue rather than a black band, so the lens stays airy. Where the light hits, a soft sheen sits on the surface.

What to Wear With Blue

  1. Champagne satin for evening. A bias-cut champagne slip dress, small gold hoops and a nude gloss.
  2. Camel and cream for daytime. A camel wool coat over an ivory ribbed knit, cream trousers and tan leather.
  3. Grey denim and silver for off-duty. Washed grey denim, a white tee, a charcoal blazer and brushed silver jewelry.

Where They Fit

This is a soft glam lens, so it lives in flattering light: bridal and wedding-guest makeup, dinners, prom and photos. A muted office outfit works too, if the rest of the look stays low-contrast. A character look can carry it, but it reads polished first.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with a qualifier. With blended taupe or grey-brown shadow and cream, navy or grey clothing, it looks like a styling choice. Skip it when your makeup leans orange or brick — those tones pull against the cool blue.

FAQ

What color are these blue contact lenses? A pale glacier blue with a fine dot fade and a thin, deeper rim — hazy, not saturated.

What makeup pairs with them? Blended taupe shadow, bronze liner, fluttery lashes and a nude gloss on glowing skin.

Can I wear them on an ordinary day? Yes — keep makeup and clothing low-contrast and they read as everyday polish.

  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
