Let me tell you something fellow creatures of the night—I've tested every vampire contact lens on the market for my annual Halloween haunt party, and these Blood Red Vampire Costume Lenses (10-Pack) have left all others in their grave.

The moment I unboxed these beauties, I knew they were special. The package itself feels like something Dracula's personal optometrist would deliver—a matte black case with blood-red velvet interior and silver detailing that looks appropriately ancient and aristocratic. Each of the 10 individually sealed lens pairs comes nestled in its own compartment, which means you can save them for multiple nights of terror or share with your coven.

But the real unholy magic happens when you put these in. The blood-red base color isn't that cheap, flat red that screams "dollar store Halloween." These have depth—intricate patterns of darker crimson near the outer edge that create this hypnotic, predatory effect that genuinely makes people uncomfortable when you maintain eye contact for too long (which, as a vampire enthusiast, is exactly what I'm going for).

I tested these at three different events: my dimly-lit Halloween party, an outdoor nighttime cemetery tour, and a brightly lit vampire-themed cosplay competition. In all three settings, they maintained their eerie, supernatural quality. In dim lighting, they catch the light with this sinister gleam that genuinely startled several of my party guests. But what impressed me most was how they still looked convincingly bloodthirsty even under harsh convention center lighting, where most costume lenses fall flat.

The comfort level deserves its own paragraph—I wore these for 8 hours straight during my vampire host duties, and unlike cheaper lenses that start feeling like torture devices after a few hours, these remained comfortable. No bloodshot eyes the next day (unless that's the look you're going for).

I've paired these with everything from classical Dracula-inspired formal wear to more modern, Underworld-style vampire interpretations, and they enhance every aesthetic. They're versatile enough to work with any vampire character you're channeling, from aristocratic ancient bloodlines to feral newly-turned predators.

One unexpected benefit: these photograph INCREDIBLY well. The dimensional quality of the color means they capture beautifully in photos, creating that eye-catching focal point that makes vampire cosplay shots so compelling. My Instagram engagement literally doubled when I posted photos wearing these compared to previous vampire looks.

For anyone serious about vampire cosplay, haunted attractions, or just wanting to be the most disturbingly authentic bloodsucker at the Halloween party, this 10-pack is an essential investment in your immortal persona.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
