Dressing the Eyes Last

You can build the whole face with contour and liner and still look like yourself in every photo until the eyes change. Rave Ripple blue contact lenses are the piece of costume makeup that flips the switch — a saturated, unmistakably blue iris that still reads as blue from across a con floor.

What the Lens Looks Like

The color is a bright cool blue, the kind you catch in aquarium light or neon signage, printed with a fine micro-dot mesh across the whole iris. The dots sit tightest through the middle, where the blue is most solid, then thin out toward the pupil so the center never flattens into a painted disc. There is no dark ring at the edge; the blue softens on its own. Under flash the mesh blurs into an even wash, and in shade the dots read close up.

Flash, Stage Light, Phone Cameras

Cosplay photography is a lighting problem before it is a lens problem. This blue stays readable under ring lights, phone flashes, backlit convention hallways and the hard spots on a contest stage, so the eyes stay part of the frame instead of washing out. Front flash shows the brightest version of the color; side light keeps the mesh legible. Shoot the first frames early, while liner and lashes are still crisp.

Makeup, Wig, and Outfit Pairing

Keep the eye makeup in the same temperature: grey, silver and soft blue shadows blended through the crease, a clean black line, a little highlight at the inner corner. Warm gold or copper in the crease fights the blue. This lens sits naturally with icy and aquatic silhouettes — white-and-silver armor, sailor styling, cool-toned cyber wigs — and it brightens a party outfit when you want the eyes to lead. Settle it before hoods, masks or wigs go on, and keep these party contacts away from glitter spray.

“I shot a full con day and the blue never went flat in any of the photos,” one cosplayer said afterward.

CCUS EYEWEAR makes this lens for cosplay and party looks — one small piece of costume makeup that changes the whole face.

Care reminder: wash and dry your hands before handling, rinse with fresh solution instead of topping off the case, and keep it in a clean, closed case between wears.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
