Quick Answer
Truffle Umber Brown Contact Lenses are a deep cocoa brown with a dense center and a soft outer edge. For brown contact lenses that deepen the eye quietly instead of announcing it, start here.
What the Shade Looks Like
In the close-up the lens reads as one continuous field of dark brown. The center is the densest part — a clear, deep cocoa — and that depth holds across the middle. There is no dot pattern and no drawn rim; the surface stays smooth and softens at the outer edge, where it meets the iris. On darker eyes it adds depth; on lighter eyes it reads near-black.
What to Wear With Brown
-
Warm neutrals. Camel wool coat, oatmeal sweater, cream denim, tan bag, gold hoops. Repeating the brown in fabric makes the look feel deliberate.
-
Grey and white. Charcoal blazer, white tee, black trousers, silver hoops. Cool grey makes dark brown look deeper — an office formula.
-
Denim and soft black. Faded denim, a black knit, bare skin, brushed brows, one coat of mascara. Let the eyes carry a bare face.
Where They Fit
Everyday first: work, errands, brunch, travel, daylight portraits. A party or cosplay look can borrow them, but the base styling stays clean. On my own brown eyes, they read as depth, not a lift.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes. The color is solid, the edge soft, and nothing here fights a simple outfit or a bare face. Skip it if you want a bright rim; this one is about depth.
FAQ
What color are these brown contact lenses? A deep cocoa brown — dark chocolate rather than golden, densest at the center and soft at the edge.
What should I wear with them? Camel, cream, and oatmeal for a warm tonal look, or white, grey, and silver for something cooler.
Can I wear them daily? For styling, yes. They read quietly enough for work and errands, and only feel like too little if you wanted a big change.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
