Quick answer

Summer Orchid Cloud Grey Contact Lenses are a cool, softly diffused grey with a gentle pupil-to-edge fade. They read as quiet grey contact lenses rather than a loud color change — easy on bare skin in daylight.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a deep, cool grey, close to wet slate in shade. Color sits heaviest around the pupil, then lifts through the center and mid field, so the iris keeps a soft gradient instead of one flat tone. The surface is smooth and evenly diffused — no visible dot mesh or glossy flash. There is no dark rim; the outer edge simply softens into the natural iris.

What to Wear With Grey

Keep the palette cool.

  1. Soft neutral daylight. Oatmeal knit, cream denim, ivory sneakers, brushed gold hoops.
  2. City tailoring. Charcoal blazer, white poplin shirt, black tapered trousers, silver earrings.
  3. Cool evening minimal. Slate-blue silk slip dress, fine silver chain, black boots.

Where They Fit

Everyday first: a Tuesday at the office, a long flight, brunch on a sunny patio, a bare-faced portrait. They also hold up for a party or a cosplay look once you add liner and a bolder lip.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes — this is an everyday grey. The blend is soft, the edge disappears quietly, and nothing about it fights a bare face. Wear them to work, to class, through a normal week of errands. If your makeup runs warm, a touch of bronzer keeps the grey from looking flat.

FAQ

What color are these grey contact lenses? A deep, cool grey that sits heaviest near the pupil, lightens through the middle of the iris, and fades softly at the outer edge.

What should I wear with them? Cream, oatmeal, charcoal, black and denim all sit well. Gold warms the grey; silver keeps it crisp.

Are they subtle enough for every day? Yes. The fade is gentle and the finish is quiet, so they wear like an easy eye color rather than a statement.

  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
