Quick Answer

Star Opal Blue Contact Lenses give a vivid lake-blue tint with a soft, blended edge that reads bright in daylight and deeper in low light. They are a styling choice for a cool, editorial eye moment without a heavy costume feel.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up, the base is a clear aqua-blue that shifts into a deeper blue at the outer edge. The center opens with a lighter, almost watery blue that keeps the pupil area from looking flat. A fine dot-mesh texture breaks the transition, so the rim does not sit as a hard line; it softens into the natural iris. The surface has a gentle gloss that catches light without looking metallic, and the outer rim stays thin and blended.

What to Wear With Blue

Blue lenses love contrast, so build outfits that either cool things down or warm them up.

1. Coastal Neutral — White linen, faded denim, tan sandals. Silver hoops.

2. Evening Ink — Black satin slip, charcoal turtleneck. Black boots, silver hoops.

3. Soft Preppy — Cream cable-knit, navy trousers, white sneakers. Gold watch.

Where They Fit

These work for everyday errands, travel photos, and casual office days with simple makeup. They also suit party nights, concerts, and cosplay when you want a dramatic blue eye. Save them for days when the blue is the point.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, these are wearable for everyday if you keep the rest of your makeup clean and avoid heavy shadows. They can feel like too much for a conservative workplace or a no-makeup day, so choose your moment.

  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
