Quick Answer

Star Haze Sandalwood Brown Contact Lenses are a soft, even brown pair that stays quiet in daylight and warms up under flash. If you want brown contact lenses that finish Y2K eye makeup without tipping into costume, this is the pair.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up the lens is one smooth brown from the center to the mid-iris. There are no dots, no mesh grid and no dark outer rim — just a clear fade where the brown eases out toward your own iris. Because the surface is unprinted and the coverage is even, the finish reads watercolor-soft rather than graphic, which is why it holds up so well in a flash photo.

What to Wear With Brown

  1. Frosted denim — low-rise straight jeans, a white ribbed baby tee, a cropped denim jacket, silver hoops, champagne-frost shadow and thin brows.
  2. Glossy night out — a chocolate satin slip dress, a tiny shoulder bag, gold hoops, clear gloss and a soft pink blush.
  3. Soft daylight neutral — an oatmeal knit, beige trench, tan leather belt, thin gold chain, butterfly clips and a sheer lip tint.

Where They Fit

Desk days, coffee runs, campus lectures, travel days and flash-photo nights out. The brown is quiet enough for a video call and warm enough for a party booth, and it also works as an easy base for cosplay styling.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one note: in bright sun the brown lifts and looks lit-up, while indoors it settles deeper and softer. On very dark irises it stays subtle rather than obvious, so treat it as polish, not a dramatic switch.

  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
