Quick answer
Softlight Cocoa Brown Contact Lenses give the iris a deep, softly blended cocoa brown with a smooth, unbroken finish. They’re for anyone who wants brown contact lenses that feel quiet, not dramatic.
What the Shade Looks Like
The close-up shows one deep brown field running from center to outer edge with no break in tone. There are no dots, no mesh grid and no printed ring, so the blend stays smooth instead of stepped. Coverage is full and even: the mid iris and pupil area read as the same dark cocoa brown, and the outer edge softens into the iris. The finish looks soft and matte, with no dark rim.
What to Wear With Brown
-
Soft neutrals. Oatmeal crewneck, ecru jeans, camel trench and small gold hoops.
-
Evening depth. Black satin slip, chocolate leather jacket and brushed silver earrings.
-
Crisp contrast. White cotton shirt, warm taupe tailoring and pewter jewelry.
Where They Fit
Everyday first. They suit a normal work week, a coffee run and daylight photos where you want deeper eyes without a full makeup look. At night they work for dinner, a party or cosplay photos.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one caveat. The shade is dark but soft-edged, so it sits well with bare skin, a tinted moisturizer or a simple brown liner. It only feels heavy if you stack a smoky eye and a dark lip in bright indoor light.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
