Quick answer

Smoky Taupe Brown Contact Lenses from CCUS EYEWEAR are a smoky gray-brown pair with a pale beige center and a defined rim. Short answer: these brown contact lenses behave like a soft filter, not a costume.

What the Shade Looks Like

The close-up shows a pale beige center melting into warm brownish-gray across the mid iris. A fine dot-matrix print builds a mesh-like halftone texture, so the color reads layered rather than flat. The outer ring is smoky brown-black — crisp outside, softly blended inward — with catchlights on the surface. On the eye, the gradient keeps that rim as the boldest detail.

What to Wear With Taupe Brown

1. Office polish. Oatmeal blazer, ivory silk blouse, taupe knit, charcoal trousers, brushed gold hoops, camel loafers. Gold warms the brown without tipping it orange.

2. Weekend neutrals. Washed denim jacket, ecru tee, gray wide-leg pants, silver huggies, cream sneakers. Cool metals let the smoky gray lead.

3. Evening warmth. Espresso satin slip dress, black leather jacket, bronze cuff, berry lip, suede boots. After dark the rim reads dressy.

Where They Fit

Desk hours, coffee runs, travel, and daylight photos suit this shade; medium coverage photographs cleanly. For parties or cosplay, the rim gives dark-liner energy.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one note. The rim shows up close, so keep liner thin and skip the lower lash line for a bare-eyed look. Add mascara and a soft brow and they slot into any weekday.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
