Quick Answer

Slate Frost Blue Contact Lenses are a cool blue-gray pair with a soft dotted mesh and a blended rim. For a frosty Y2K finish instead of a loud saturated blue, these blue contact lenses are the easy pick.

What the Shade Looks Like

Up close, the base is blue-gray — slate mixed with cool glacier blue. The center stays lighter around the pupil, then the color builds outward in a fine dotted mesh that gives the iris a soft pixel-frost texture. The edge blends rather than drawing a hard ring. A small light catch on the surface is what makes them look wet and lit in flash photos.

What to Wear With Blue

1. Y2K Pop-Glam. Low-rise gray denim, a cropped baby tee, butterfly clips, frosted lilac shadow and a glossy pink lip.

2. Clean Daytime. An oversized white shirt, light straight-leg denim, brushed silver hoops and nude gloss.

3. Party Flash. A slate satin slip dress, layered silver chains and metallic frost shadow.

Where They Fit

Errands, class, desk days and travel all work. They get stronger at night, and they suit a frosty Halloween or cosplay look without reading as a costume lens.

Everyday Wear: Yes

An everyday yes, with one caveat: keep liner soft and shadow neutral for work, and save the frosted highlight for weekends.

  • We recommend a rub and rinse before soaking soft lenses for a minimum of 6 hours in their container.
  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.
  • Don't use saline solution for contact lens cleaning or disinfection.
  • Replace your contact lens case every two to three months.
  • Take out your contacts if they are bothering you.
  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
