Quick Answer

Silk Solstice Red Contact Lenses are a muted, rosy adzuki red — vivid enough to read in photos, quiet enough for a Tuesday coffee run. If you want red contact lenses that flatter instead of shout, this is the pair.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up, the base is a dusty brick-rose red rather than neon cherry. The pigment sits in a fine dotted mesh that thins toward the middle, opening a lighter rosy center around the pupil. A slim, slightly deeper red ring traces the outer edge and gives the color its shape. Light catches the surface as one small glassy highlight — a soft sheen, not a mirror.

What to Wear With Red

1. Cream and Camel. Oatmeal cable-knit sweater, camel wool coat, ivory wide-leg trousers, gold hoops. The neutrals let the red stay the only saturated note.

2. Black Satin and Silver. Black satin slip dress, cropped leather jacket, silver chain, patent ankle boots. Evening-smart, slightly moody.

3. Denim and Dusty Rose. Light-wash straight jeans, faded rose tee, washed denim jacket, white sneakers, one deep burgundy belt.

Where They Fit

Brunch, a desk day with soft neutral makeup, travel photos, rooftop birthdays, concerts, and costume or cosplay styling when the point is a dramatic red stare.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes — with one honest caveat. On bare skin or light makeup they read as a soft wine red that’s easy to live in. If you want an undetectable natural brown iris, this isn’t it; the red is meant to be seen.

FAQ

What color are these red contact lenses? A muted adzuki red: brick-rose base, fine dotted mesh, lighter center, slim deeper rim.

What should I wear with them? Cream, camel, and gold for daytime; black satin and silver at night; denim with dusty rose on weekends.

Are they everyday-friendly? Yes, in soft makeup; choose something quieter if you want a low-key eye.

  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
