Quick answer

Silk Mist Blue Contact Lenses are a cool, soft-edged blue lens with a fine dotted blend and no dark rim — a clearly blue iris that still reads like real life.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up the blue is cool and medium, covering the iris to its outer edge. It runs deepest at the edge and softens toward the middle, so the center reads as a light haze rather than a solid block of pigment. A fine dotted mesh runs through the blue and the points blur into each other, which keeps the blend from looking printed on. There is no black or grey rim; the blue simply fades out, and the finish stays soft rather than glassy.

What to Wear With Blue

1. Clean daytime neutrals. White cotton tee, light-wash straight jeans, cream trench, small silver hoops, bare skin and one coat of mascara.

2. Warm contrast. Camel wool, oatmeal knit, chocolate loafers, gold jewelry. Warm neutrals push a cool blue forward without fighting it.

3. Soft tonal blue. Powder blue shirt, grey-blue trousers, slate suede sneakers, washed denim jacket — same family, different depths.

Where They Fit

Office days, coffee runs, travel and daylight portraits. They also suit a party or cosplay styling moment, though this shade is calm enough that no costume is needed.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes — on days when you want the blue to show. In daylight and office light it stays clear but soft and sits well with minimal makeup. If you want a tint that disappears, this is more color than that.

FAQ

What shade is it? A cool, medium blue with a dotted blend and no rim, so the edge fades instead of stopping hard.

What outfits suit blue contact lenses? White, cream, camel and warm browns flatter the blue; finish with silver or gold, not both.

Can I wear them daily? For everyday styling, yes, as long as you like visible blue. The dotted pattern keeps it natural in daylight.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
