Quick answer

Sea Glass White Contact Lenses pair a cool, frosted wash with a clear center, so the iris reads light, not painted. If you want white contact lenses that still look like eyes, this is the quiet pick.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a pale blue-white, the color of sea glass in daylight. The middle stays clear and centered, then fades outward in one smooth wash toward the edge. There is no dotted mesh, no printed flecks, no dark rim, and no foil highlight, just a light, slightly glassy finish.

What to Wear With White Contact Lenses

1. Clean neutrals. White cotton tee, ecru wide-leg trousers, thin silver hoops, canvas tote.

2. Soft texture. Oatmeal knit, washed grey denim, brushed gold jewelry.

3. Evening polish. Black satin slip dress, charcoal blazer, pewter studs, clear brow gel, taupe lid.

Where They Fit

Desk days, coffee runs, campus, travel, and flash-free photos suit them; flat daylight shows off the clear center. They also work for a low-key party or a light cosplay look.

Everyday Wear: Yes

They hold up for work, class, brunch, and errands, reading as a soft, glassy light rather than a loud blue. Skip them when you want a deep, saturated iris or a defined dark rim.

FAQ

Are they white or blue? Both, depending on light. The lens is a pale blue-white that looks nearly white in bright daylight and cools to soft slate in shade.

What should I pair with them? Neutrals and soft metals: white, ecru, oatmeal, grey, black, brown, with silver, pewter, or brushed gold.

Can I wear white contact lenses every day? Yes, for work, class, and errands. If you want bold, saturated blue, choose a deeper shade.

  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
