Quick answer
Satin Noir Black Contact Lenses are a deep, even black with a soft center fade and no hard outer ring. They read as quiet, real-life black rather than a graphic circle lens — black contact lenses that define the eye without shouting.
What the Shade Looks Like
In the close-up the black sits evenly across the iris. The middle opens into a clean, round pupil zone, and the color eases into it instead of stopping at a hard line.
Toward the edge the black thins out gently: no crisp rim, no grey border, no heavy pattern. The surface reads smooth and even, with your own highlight doing the shining.
What to Wear With Black
Black is the most forgiving lens shade to style — it works like liner you never had to draw.
-
Off-duty neutrals. An oatmeal crewneck, straight-leg jeans, canvas sneakers and small silver hoops.
-
Workday polish. A charcoal blazer, a white poplin shirt, slim black trousers, a thin gold watch. Skip liner.
-
Evening minimal. A black silk slip dress, brushed gold jewelry, a bare glossy lip. Hair back.
Where They Fit
Daytime lenses at heart: errands with no makeup, office days, travel and window-lit portraits, where the soft edge keeps the iris from going flat. For a party or cosplay look, add a sharper wing.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one caveat: keep the rest of the eye minimal. With heavy liner and dark shadow, black tips toward costume. With bare lids and one coat of mascara, it looks like a deeper version of your own eye.
FAQ
What color are these lenses? A solid, deep black with a clear pupil zone and a soft fade at the edge — no grey cast, no blue undertone.
What should I wear with black contact lenses? Neutrals first — oatmeal, cream, charcoal, denim, black — then one metal: silver for cool outfits, gold for warm ones.
Can I wear them daily? Yes, if makeup stays light — they add definition, so a soft brown reads quieter on a bare-face day.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
