Quick answer

Satin Milk Tea Brown Contact Lenses are a soft grey-brown lens with a warm milk-tea edge, made for natural daily polish. These brown contact lenses whisper rather than shout.

What the Shade Looks Like

The close-up shows a smoky grey-brown center diffusing into a lighter milk-tea brown. There is no hard outer rim, so the color melts into the edge of the lens field instead of stopping at a line. A faint, soft grain carries the tone across the lens, and the finish looks matte and diffused rather than wet. It behaves like a softer, slightly cooler version of a natural brown iris.

What to Wear With Brown

1. Cream and Camel — oatmeal ribbed knit, camel wool coat, ivory wide-leg trousers, small gold hoops. Warm neutrals keep the grey-brown looking fresh.

2. Chocolate Monochrome — espresso satin slip dress, chocolate blazer, brushed bronze jewelry. Tonal browns pull the warm edge forward.

3. Cool Grey Contrast — charcoal blazer over a white tee, slate denim, silver jewelry. Grey brings out the ashy center.

Where They Fit

Office days, travel, brunch, birthday dinners and engagement photos all work. Add matte bronzer for party photos and let the lenses do the rest. They can also finish a costume or cosplay look when the outfit is styled with intent.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one condition: this pair is at its best when you want an understated grey-brown enhancement. If you want a boldly colored lens, look elsewhere.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
