Quick answer
Satin Midnight Black Contact Lenses are a deep, softly diffused black pair with a fine dotted mesh and a defined rim — everyday black contact lenses that frame the eye without tipping into costume. Worn with barely any makeup, the eyes still read finished.
What the Shade Looks Like
The base is a true deep black, with a fine, dense dot pattern spread evenly across the surface. It opens into a lighter charcoal at the center, so the middle never goes flat. Toward the outer edge the dots gather into a darker band and form a quiet rim that traces the iris line. In daylight the finish stays deep and matte, with a faint highlight where the light lands.
What to Wear With Black
-
Crisp neutrals. White poplin shirt, straight-leg denim, small silver hoops — graphic and easy.
-
Warm oatmeal layers. Cream ribbed knit, camel wool coat, tan suede loafers, brushed gold earrings — a softer contrast.
-
Evening minimal. Charcoal satin slip dress, thin silver chain, bare face with a washed rose lip.
Where They Fit
These black contact lenses suit an ordinary week: a desk day, a long travel day when your eyes need definition, or a dinner after work. They also sit quietly inside a party or cosplay look, but the minimal, natural version is where they feel most at home.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes — these are everyday contact lenses in black. The mesh is fine and the rim is defined, so the effect reads polished rather than theatrical. Wear them to the office, on errands, or out to dinner with light makeup. The caveat: if you want a completely invisible eye, this is not that pair — the rim is meant to be seen.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
