Quick Answer

Salt Fog Ash Brown Contact Lenses are a cool ash-brown with a gray center and a soft brown haze, and that pairing is what keeps the eye natural in daylight.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up the center is a cool, ashy gray. The shift into the mid-field is clear but gentle — gray loosens into a warm light brown wash, with no hard band where the two meet. The surface is smooth and diffused: no dotted grid, no mesh, no printed texture. There is no defined outer rim, so the edge fades out and the lens reads as a quiet tint over the iris rather than a drawn circle. No gloss or mirror highlight shows in the shot, which keeps the finish matte and soft.

What to Wear With Ash Brown

Three combinations I keep returning to.

  1. Warm neutrals. Oatmeal knit, cream chinos, a caramel belt and brushed gold hoops — gold coaxes the brown forward.
  2. Cool city basics. Charcoal turtleneck, black straight-leg jeans, a slate coat and small silver hoops that echo the ash center.
  3. Denim and white. Light-wash denim jacket, a plain white tee, tan suede sneakers and a slim leather watch.

Where They Fit

Office days, an early train, brunch in window light, an easy dinner. They also suit a party or a cosplay look when you want soft, eerie eyes without effects makeup.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, this is a daytime shade. It sits well with bare skin, tinted moisturizer and one coat of mascara. If you want a loud, high-contrast lens for stage makeup, keep looking.

FAQ

What color are these brown contact lenses? A cool ash gray center that eases into a light warm brown, with no dark rim.

What should I pair them with? Cream, oatmeal, charcoal and light denim flatter them; gold warms the brown, silver plays up the gray.

Can I wear them every day? For most daytime settings, yes — the pattern is a smooth, dot-free wash rather than a graphic circle.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
