Quick Answer

Saffron Solstice Gold Contact Lenses place a vivid gold-yellow field under two bold black concentric rings, so the iris reads as a graphic bullseye rather than a soft wash of color.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a bright, saturated gold-yellow with no brown or mustard in it. There is no dotted mesh, no halftone fade, and no glitter — the pigment sits as one clean, even field.

The dark rings do the heavy lifting. A slim black ring circles the center, a wide gold band follows, then a second black ring, then a gold outer band closed by a fine dark rim. That rim is the defining edge of the lens, keeping the boundary crisp and outlined instead of feathered.

What to Wear With Gold

1. Black and brass. Black leather jacket, black tank, straight-leg denim, brushed gold hoops — the metal ties back to the lens.

2. Comic-pop color. White graphic tee, pleated mini skirt, chunky sneakers, plus one red or cobalt accent.

3. Warm neutrals. Camel coat, cream ribbed knit, tan leather boots, thin gold chains.

Where They Fit

Concerts, costume nights, comic and anime conventions, and any shoot lit with direct flash. They also work for creative offices and weekend plans when your outfit stays simple.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with a caveat. For weekends, social plans, and casual jobs the graphic stare feels intentional. Skip them for interviews and conservative workplaces where you want a quiet eye.

FAQ

What color are these lenses? A vivid gold-yellow with two black concentric rings and a fine dark outer rim.

What should I wear with gold contact lenses? Start with black and brass, then white with one bold accent, then camel and cream for something softer.

Can I wear them daily? Yes for weekends, creative settings, and events — not for a formal or conservative workplace.

  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
