Quick answer

Rain Iris Grey Contact Lenses are a deep black-grey pair with a soft, diffused edge, and these grey contact lenses suit a naturally dark, low-contrast eye rather than a loud color change.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up, the lens reads as a dense black-grey through the center of the iris. There is no graphic rim and no drawn-on circle — the color simply softens as it moves outward, so the boundary between lens and natural iris stays blurred. The surface is smooth and evenly pigmented, with no visible mesh or dotted pattern. The only shine is the small catchlight the light source leaves behind.

What to Wear With Grey

1. Cool minimal tailoring. A grey wool blazer, white cotton tee, straight-leg trousers and silver studs keep the eye the sharpest thing in the look.

2. Cream and camel warmth. A cream knit, camel coat, taupe suede boots and small gold hoops warm up the cooler grey.

3. Evening neutrals. A black satin slip, a fine silver chain and a nude lip let the darker iris carry the contrast.

Where They Fit

Office days, travel, brunch, dinner reservations and casual photo sessions all suit this shade, and it behaves like everyday grey contact lenses rather than a special-occasion pair. It also works for a subtle party or cosplay look when you want a dark-eyed finish without a costume feel.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes — this is an everyday shade. It reads well in daylight and indoor light and holds up next to minimal makeup. Skip it only if you want an obvious, high-contrast pop of color.

FAQ

What color are Rain Iris grey contact lenses? A deep black-grey — dense through the center, quietly smoky toward the middle, and softly blurred at the outer edge with no strong rim.

What should I pair with them? Cool neutrals like grey, white, charcoal and navy, or warm cream and camel for contrast; silver suits the cooler side, gold warms it.

Are they good for everyday wear? Yes, if you like a natural, low-contrast eye — and not if you want a bold, colorful lens look.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
