Quick answer
Quiet Spring Black Contact Lenses are a deep near-black lens with a dark brown core and no separate rim — an everyday dark eye that reads sharp, not costumey.
What the Shade Looks Like
The close-up shows a dense, nearly solid black field that opens into dark brown at the center of the iris. There’s no dotted pattern, no mesh and no defined outer rim — the color just deepens from center to edge. Nothing in the design sparkles; the shine in the photo is lighting. Coverage is full, so the eye reads uniformly dark, not softly tinted.
What to Wear With Black Contact Lenses
-
Minimal daytime: white poplin, straight-leg indigo denim, a camel wool blazer, brushed silver studs and a bare balm lip.
-
Soft evening: a black satin slip dress, an ivory knit, gold hoops, leather ankle boots and an espresso lip.
-
Off-duty weekend: oatmeal crewneck, ecru denim, an olive utility jacket, small gold hoops and a smudged brown pencil.
Where They Fit
Easy for a desk job, brunch, travel days, dinner reservations and natural-light photos, where the deep tone holds better than a pale lens. They also suit a warm-toned cosplay or themed party — the dark eye fits a costume, it just doesn’t need one.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one caveat: if you want a defined dark eye with almost no other makeup, this is an easy daily pick. If you prefer a barely-there tint, the full coverage will feel like too much.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
