Quick answer

Quiet Slate Blue Contact Lenses are a muted gray-blue with a soft dotted blend — quiet blue contact lenses you can wear to work on Tuesday and to dinner on Friday.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base color is steel grey with a blue cast rather than a bright sky blue. The center reads deeper, almost charcoal-blue at the pupil, then opens into a misty slate band that softens toward the outer edge. The print is a fine dot-and-mesh pattern, with tiny evenly spaced flecks that blur the transition instead of drawing hard lines. A soft highlight curves across the upper lens, and the rim stays gentle: a slightly deeper edge that frames the iris without a heavy ring. Up close you see texture; at arm’s length it reads as a cool, faintly smoky blue.

What to Wear With Blue

  1. Soft neutrals. Oatmeal wool coat, ivory ribbed tee, ecru wide-leg trousers, tan leather loafers. Warm neutrals keep the cool blue from going icy.
  2. Quiet denim. Light-wash chambray shirt, mid-blue straight jeans, black belt, white sneakers. Echoing the lens with denim makes the gray-blue look deliberate.
  3. Black and silver. Black slip dress, fine silver chain, matte hoops, berry-brown lip. Black strengthens the slate undertone.

Where They Fit

Workdays, coffee runs, and long travel days. It holds up with minimal makeup and doesn’t fight a neutral wardrobe, and the dotted print photographs as soft focus. Styling a party look or a cosplay build? Treat it as the cool base and let the outfit carry the drama.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes. Bare skin, brow gel, mascara, tinted balm — that’s the whole look. It reads stronger beside graphic liner, so keep the eye simple for the soft version. Want an obvious bright blue instead? This isn’t it.

FAQ

Is this shade really blue? It’s a gray-blue — slate grey with a blue cast. Daylight pulls grey; photos and evening light pull blue.

What should I pair with it? Warm neutrals, denim, and black with silver metals. Let one piece carry the color.

Can I wear it every day? Yes — as blue contact lenses go, this one is muted enough for daily wear with light or no makeup.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
