Quick answer
Quiet Hour Grey Contact Lenses are a soft smoke-grey pair with a fine dotted mesh and a lightly defined rim, so they read cool and blended in daylight rather than dramatic — grey contact lenses that look like a mood, not a costume.
What the Shade Looks Like
In the close-up the base is a translucent smoke grey with a faint cool cast — not silver, not blue, just grey with depth. The center stays lighter around the pupil, then the tone deepens toward the edge in a soft gradient. The pattern is a fine dotted mesh: tiny pigment points across the grey, giving a lightly speckled finish and a soft sheen in daylight. The rim is defined but never hard, so the blend stays natural.
What to Wear With Grey
Grey likes a little structure.
-
Office minimal. Charcoal blazer, white ribbed tee, black straight-leg trousers, slim silver watch.
-
Weekend neutral. Oatmeal knit, straight-leg denim, tan leather belt, small silver hoops.
-
Evening cool. Black silk slip dress, leather jacket, sheer tights, brushed silver earrings.
Where They Fit
Work and errands are home base: desks, video calls, coffee runs. Soft grey travels well and doesn’t fight hotel or airport lighting. For parties, photos or cosplay, the mesh shows up in a flash without going theatrical.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one honest note. The mesh is fine and the rim is soft, so it works with a bare face, cream blush and brown mascara. It won’t suit a warm, sunlit look — the grey stays cool, and heavy bronzer fights it. Start with white, black, denim or silver.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
