Quick Answer

Paper Moon Purple Contact Lenses are a soft grey-violet with a light grape cast — purple contact lenses that shift the face without looking like a costume.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a muted grey-violet, not candy purple. Near the center the color stays light and slightly translucent, so your own iris tone shows through and the grape note reads cool. Toward the edge, a fine dot mesh packs tighter until it settles into a smoky charcoal rim that frames the eye. The dots are tiny and even, so the texture reads as soft haze, never a printed graphic. The center stays clear, so the light in your eye stays the brightest point. Indoors the purple drops toward grey; in daylight the grape undertone steps forward.

What to Wear With Purple Contact Lenses

1. Oatmeal and cream. Ribbed oatmeal knit, cream wide-leg jeans, tan suede loafers, brushed gold hoops. Warm neutrals make the cool violet feel intentional.

2. Charcoal and black. A charcoal wool blazer over a black slip dress, thin silver hoops, berry lip. The smoky ring echoes the dark fabric.

3. One echo of lilac. Faded lilac linen shirt, off-white chinos, white sneakers, one silver ring. Matching the lens exactly flattens in photos.

Where They Fit

This is a natural-finish lens, so it lives in normal life: coffee runs, video calls, low-light dinners, travel photos. It also suits a muted party or soft-fantasy cosplay look when the styling stays quiet.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one caveat. In daylight and office light these are an easy daily pair, especially with minimal makeup. In hard direct sun the mesh and outer ring read heavier, so if you want a tint that nearly disappears, keep them for indoor and evening wear.

FAQ

Is the shade really purple? Yes — a light grape grey-violet up close, clearer in daylight, with a smoky charcoal outer band.

What pairs with purple contact lenses? Warm neutrals like oatmeal, cream, and camel, plus charcoal and black; one lilac piece echoes the eye.

Can I wear them with a no-makeup look? Yes. Sheer base, no liner, one coat of mascara — the lens does the color work.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
