Quick Answer
Orchard Dawn Chestnut Brown Contact Lenses are a warm chocolate-brown pair built for quiet, everyday eyes. They read as a soft milk-brown in daylight and settle into a dark iris instead of sitting on top of it.
What the Shade Looks Like
The close-up shows a deep chocolate core around the pupil, then a gentle lift into a warm chestnut mid zone. The surface is smooth and even, without a printed dot grid or mesh, and there is no dark outer ring — the brown feathers toward the edge so the blend stays soft on darker eyes.
What to Wear With Chestnut Brown
-
Oatmeal and camel. Cream ribbed knit, camel wool coat, warm-wash denim, tan loafers, brushed gold hoops.
-
Denim and white. Light-wash jeans, a white poplin shirt, a denim jacket, silver studs, a black bag.
-
Espresso tailoring. Chocolate blazer, silk camisole, slim black trousers, small gold hoops, balm and brow gel.
Where They Fit
Everyday first: office mornings, coffee runs, brunch, and travel photos. For a party they add warmth without stealing the look; for cosplay, they sit quietly under a wig.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes — this is an everyday styling pair. The blend stays subtle in flat office light, and the feathered edge keeps it from looking graphic. If you want an obvious doll-eye finish, go bolder instead.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
