Blue contact lenses with an inked edge

Blue contact lenses usually go soft and dreamy — this one goes graphic. The center-to-mid field is one saturated cobalt blue with a quiet radial pull toward the pupil, closed off by a black defining rim. That edge is the trick: it keeps the eye readable from the front row of a con panel to the back of a crowded after-party photo.

The pattern and the character match

No scattered dots, no haze at the boundary — the blue holds even coverage and the dark rim gives it shape. Build a set of blue cosplay lenses around this shade: it stays graphic under heavy liner and vivid wigs, so manga-sharp eyes, cyber silhouettes and villain stares all land on camera.

Lighting and photo notes

Warm hall light cools the blue; white stage light pushes it close to electric, and phone flash pulls the rim blacker. Colored gels will tint it, so grab one test frame before the set. In group shots, tilt your chin down so light crosses the whole lens, and at night keep a light source in front of you, not overhead.

Outfit and makeup

Costume makeup that leans graphic suits it best — a tight wing, a clean lower lash line, a lip in another family like red or plum. Skip blue shadow when the wig is already bright, and echo the lens once in a nail or a silver accent, then stop.

From one cosplayer to another

“I put these in for a Saturday night party shoot and stopped fussing over my eyes in the edit,” says Ren, who shoots four conventions a season. “The blue held in every frame.”

CCUS EYEWEAR builds graphic cosplay color like this — bold, readable shades for costumes, stages and cameras rather than everyday subtlety.

Care reminder: wash and dry your hands before handling, keep the case capped with fresh solution, and let your eyes rest between wear sessions.

  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
