Quick answer

Mulberry Plum Purple Contact Lenses sit at the deep, quiet end of purple contact lenses — a smoked plum-brown that reads nearly natural in low light and turns softly violet in daylight. Pick this pair if you want depth rather than drama.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a dense, dark plum-brown with a violet cast: espresso in shadow, muted mulberry in daylight. Coverage is full, so the tone stays even across the iris.

Center to edge it shifts from a mid-dark plum to a deeper, smokier edge, with no hard rim and no dark ring — the border simply softens out.

The pattern is a fine dot mesh, the dots packed tighter toward the outer edge. From arm’s length it looks smooth and matte; up close you can read the printed mesh. There is no glossy coating, so the small highlight in photos is the eye’s own catchlight.

What to Wear With Purple

1. Cream, oatmeal, camel. Ribbed cream knit, camel wool coat, tan leather bag, warm gold hoops. Warm neutrals keep the violet soft and skin-flattering.

2. Slate grey and black denim. Grey blazer, black slip dress, silver-tone jewelry. Cool tones push the plum smoky, which suits evening light.

3. Washed lilac and blue denim. A dusty lilac tee under an oversized denim jacket with white sneakers echoes the violet without matching it.

Where They Fit

Desk-to-dinner days, weekend errands, travel photos and daylight portraits are the sweet spot. They are everyday purple contact lenses first and a photo lens second; a party or cosplay look only works if you build a heavier smoky eye around them.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes — this is an everyday pair for me. With skin tint, cream blush and bare lashes the effect reads as your eyes, only deeper, and daylight keeps the violet honest. Two honest notes: indoors they go much darker, close to brown, and heavy waterline liner turns the whole eye black.

FAQ

What color are these purple contact lenses? A deep smoked plum-brown with a violet cast — espresso indoors, soft mulberry outside.

What should I wear with them? Cream, oatmeal and gold for a warm look; slate grey, black and silver for something cooler.

Can I wear them every day? Yes, with light makeup. Expect a browner read indoors and clearer violet in daylight.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
