Quick Answer
Moon Mist Grey Contact Lenses are a deep black-grey pair with a fine misty halo, built for quiet definition rather than costume drama. If you want a dark, natural iris for everyday wear, start here.
What the Shade Looks Like
The close-up tells the story: a high-coverage black center holds across most of the iris, then dissolves into a narrow band of soft grey dots. That dotted ring is the defining edge — no heavy limbal line, no shine in the print. From a normal distance the eye reads charcoal-grey, which is why the shade behaves like a grey contact lens instead of flat black.
What to Wear With Grey
Dark grey eyes look best with texture and clean lines, not competing color.
-
Bare-skin neutrals. White cotton tee, ecru denim, oatmeal cardigan, brushed silver jewelry, clear brow gel.
-
Charcoal tailoring. Grey wool blazer, black fine-knit turtleneck, dark indigo jeans, small silver hoops.
-
Evening ink. Black slip dress or chocolate silk blouse, pewter hoops, matte brick lip.
Where They Fit
Workdays, errand mornings, airports, dinner photos, low-key parties — and a dark-eyed cosplay look, if you want one. A bare face frames them best.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one condition. They work for daily life when your makeup stays minimal and your brows look finished; the dark core does the defining. Skip them when you’re after a wide-awake, brightening effect or planning vivid shadow.
FAQ
What color are these grey contact lenses, really? A deep ink-black core that fades through soft grey dots, so in daylight the eye reads charcoal-grey.
What should I wear with them? Cream, oatmeal, and ecru for day; charcoal, black, and silver for evening. Keep lip and cheek tones skin-like.
Can I wear them every day? Yes, with light natural makeup; with neon or pastel shadow the dark center can feel heavy.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
