Quick Answer

Moon Cloud Midnight Black Contact Lenses deepen the iris with a soft, diffused black rather than a hard ring. If you want dark, grounded eyes without a graphic outline, keep this pair in rotation.

What the Shade Looks Like

The close-up shows a true black center — dense, inky, even — that lifts only slightly toward the edge. The transition stays soft, and the outer boundary fades instead of stopping in a drawn line.

The surface looks smooth and unmottled: no dot mesh, no spokes, no sparkle. There is no crisp rim and no glossy highlight, so the finish reads quiet and matte-leaning.

What to Wear With Black

1. Cream and camel. Cream ribbed knit, camel wool coat, tan belt, small gold hoops — warm neutrals keep the lens from feeling heavy.

2. Charcoal tailoring. Charcoal blazer, black slim trousers, white poplin shirt, silver studs — monochrome layers look intentional here.

3. Satin after dark. Oxblood or plum satin slip dress, cropped leather jacket, gunmetal jewelry; the diffused edge keeps black from going theatrical.

Where They Fit

Office days when you want defined eyes without obvious color. Travel photos where you want a consistent look. Low-lit dinners, parties, and soft glam cosplay when you need grounded eyes rather than a graphic effect.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one caveat. The color stays subtle enough to wear most days, and it reads as a smoky accent rather than a costume. It pairs well with mascara, a defined brow, and a tinted lip; bare-faced, it feels heavier than a brown or grey.

FAQ

Is the black natural-looking? It is a deep, even black with a soft outer fade, so it reads as intensified natural depth rather than a flat painted circle.

What pairs with these black contact lenses? Cream, camel, oatmeal, charcoal, white, oxblood, and plum — gold for warmth, silver or gunmetal for cool.

Can I wear them daily? Yes, especially for work and travel. They are a stronger look than a brown or grey, so treat them as a deliberate smoky choice.

Contact Lens Care Guidelines

  • We recommend a rub and rinse before soaking soft lenses for a minimum of 6 hours in their container.
  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.
  • Don't use saline solution for contact lens cleaning or disinfection.
  • Replace your contact lens case every two to three months.
  • Take out your contacts if they are bothering you.
  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
