Quick answer

Mirror Flash Smoke Grey Contact Lenses are a deep smoke grey pair with a fine dotted mesh and a softly drawn rim — grey contact lenses that make a bare face look styled.

What the Shade Looks Like

Up close, the base is a cool smoke grey that deepens into charcoal at the edge, while the center stays softer and more translucent so your own iris shows through. A fine dotted mesh — small dots in even rings — gives the surface a halftone texture instead of a flat wash. The outer rim is thin, darkened and clearly drawn. A bright highlight sits on the lens in the close-up; that is the flash catching the surface, and it is part of why this pair photographs so well.

What to Wear With Smoke Grey

1. Frosted Y2K glam. A cropped white baby tee, low-rise grey denim and a thin silver chain. Frosty highlighter, clear gloss lips and a slick bun with two butterfly clips.

2. Cool office smoke. A charcoal blazer, a slate grey turtleneck, straight-leg trousers. Brushed brows, one wash of taupe shadow, a satin nude lip.

3. Night-out gloss. A black slip dress, a metallic silver bag, strappy heels. Glossy lids and sharp liner give the grey a cooler, wetter finish.

Where They Fit

Flash photography, birthday dinners, mirror selfies and dance floors. They also suit Y2K-themed parties and cosplay styling, where a cooler eye reads as intentional rather than costume.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one condition. In daylight these read as a soft smoky grey that looks deliberate with very little makeup. They turn darker indoors and in low light, so save them for the weekend if you want an airy eye at a morning meeting.

FAQ

Are these grey or black? They are grey — a cool smoke grey over a charcoal edge — but they run deep, so in low light they can look almost black.

What makeup suits them? Frosted highlight, glossy lips and thin brows are the easy pairing. Cool tones like silver, slate and icy pink keep the grey from turning muddy.

Are grey contact lenses like these wearable every day? Yes, if you like a darker eye. They are a styling lens, so how they read depends on your makeup and the light.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
