Quick answer
Midnight Obsidian Black Contact Lenses are a full-coverage black with a fine halftone dot pattern that softens toward the edge, so the eye reads deep and defined instead of painted. These black contact lenses are quiet intensity, no costume required.
What the Shade Looks Like
The base is black, not charcoal pretending. Color stays dense from the center through the mid-iris with no grey layer underneath. Up close there is a tight, evenly spaced dot mesh, so the surface has grain in close range and settles into a smooth wash at conversation distance. The dots thin at the outer edge and blur into your own iris line, which keeps the eye from looking circled.
What to Wear With Black
Style them like a neutral with weight.
-
Washed denim and white. White tee, mid-wash straight jeans, small silver hoops, bare lids.
-
All black, mixed texture. Silk slip or fine knit, matte tailored trousers, one gold piece.
-
Warm neutrals, one metal. Cream sweater, camel coat, gold hoops — deliberate, never heavy.
Where They Fit
These black contact lenses suit errands, a plain-blazer office day, travel days when you want your face awake in photos, and dinners where a smoky eye would be overkill. Party and cosplay styling work too when a dark eye is the whole point.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, these are everyday black. They sit well with no-makeup makeup, sunscreen and a claw clip, and the look holds in daylight. Skip them on days you want your own shade fully uncovered.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
