Quick answer
Melancholy Paris Azure Blue Contact Lenses are a deep sapphire-navy pair with a fine dot mesh and a softened blue-black edge. These blue contact lenses read as quiet navy in daylight and nearly ink after dark.
What the Shade Looks Like
The base is a saturated navy-sapphire blue. Around the center the tone stays clearer and slightly translucent, then deepens through the middle of the iris into a dense blue-black band at the outer edge.
Up close the finish is a fine dot mesh rather than a flat wash, so the blue looks airbrushed instead of painted on. There is no bold ring — the edge simply sits darker and frames the iris. Coverage is full.
What to Wear With Blue
-
Cream and camel neutrals — an oatmeal knit, ecru denim, a camel wool coat, brushed gold hoops. Warm neutrals keep the blue from going cold.
-
Black with one cool metal — a black slip dress or plain blazer over a white ribbed tank, silver hoops, patent loafers.
-
Cool grey tailoring — grey wool blazer, faded denim jacket, white tee, slate trousers, sterling silver.
Where They Fit
This is a desk-and-weekend lens: office days, café sessions, errands, long train rides. For photos and low-light dinners the darker edge adds definition without a heavy circle. Add smoky liner and a slicked-back bun for a party, or use them in a cosplay look.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, this one is genuinely everyday. The color stays even against a bare face and reads polished, not costume-y. One note: in bright sun it goes deep, so if you want a light summer tint, look elsewhere.
FAQ
What color are they, exactly? A deep sapphire-navy blue, clearer at the center and blue-black at the edge — closer to ink than to sky blue.
Which outfits work best? Cream, camel and oatmeal warm it up; black with silver sharpens it.
Can I wear blue contact lenses like these every day? Yes, for work, errands and travel, as long as a deep blue is the look you want.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
