Quick Answer
Lotus Opal Grey Contact Lenses are a soft grey that runs deeper at the center and fades to a pale ash edge, so the shift reads subtle rather than costume. For grey contact lenses that stay believable in daylight, start here.
What the Shade Looks Like
In the close-up, the color is a clean graphite grey at the pupil that melts into a lighter fog grey toward the outer edge — a gradual fade, not a banded one. There is no dark rim, no gloss and no sparkle. A barely-there soft dot texture blends the color across the iris and reads smooth from a normal distance.
What to Wear With Grey
-
Cool monochrome: grey wool coat, ivory tee, faded straight jeans, silver hoops.
-
Warm contrast: camel blazer, chocolate knit, gold jewelry, brick-red lip.
-
Soft neutral: oatmeal linen shirt, cream trousers, tan sandals, thin gold chain.
Where They Fit
Desk days, lectures, long flights, dinner photos, and low-key party or cosplay looks where you want a cool-toned eye without a character read.
Everyday Wear: Yes
This is a true everyday grey — office, campus, daylight portraits. Keep makeup minimal: mascara and a tinted balm. It works less well when you want your eyes to be the loudest thing in the room; this lens whispers.
FAQ
What color is this lens? A mid grey that darkens toward the center and lightens at the edge, with no black rim.
What pairs well with grey contact lenses? Cool greys and whites, camel and brown for warmth, or oatmeal neutrals — silver and gold both work.
Can I wear them daily? Yes, for most everyday settings, if you like a muted grey over a bright, high-contrast eye.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
