Quick Answer
Lisbon Rain Black Contact Lenses are a deep inky black with a fine dotted blend and no hard outer ring, so the eye reads naturally dark instead of graphic. They are easy black contact lenses to wear with minimal makeup.
What the Shade Looks Like
In the close-up, the center and mid-iris are solid black. The color loosens into a fine dotted mesh that thins near the outer edge, so there is no separate dark ring and no grey halo. Nothing glossy sits on the lens; the only light is the wet catchlight in your eye. From a normal distance the dots read as depth, not pattern.
What to Wear With Black
-
Cream, Camel, and Gold: a ribbed cream knit, camel wool trousers, small gold hoops. Warm neutrals stop the black from looking severe.
-
All Black, Mixed Textures: a black silk slip dress, a matte leather jacket, silver earrings. Mixed textures keep one color from falling flat.
-
Denim and White: straight-leg blue denim, a white tee, a thin silver chain — the most casual way to wear them.
Where They Fit
Coffee runs, office days, weekend travel, and photos where you want defined eyes without liner. They also suit parties and cosplay, though that is styling, not the point.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, this works daily — bare face, tinted moisturizer, a swipe of balm. Skip it if you want an obviously bright or colored eye; the effect stays subtle.
FAQ
What color are they? Black — a solid center that breaks into a dotted mesh and melts into the iris edge, with no brown or grey base.
What do I wear with black contact lenses? Cream and camel with gold, all-black in mixed textures with silver, or denim and white with a thin chain.
Are they an everyday lens? Yes for work, class, travel, and casual photos; less so for looks that call for a clearly bright eye.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
