Quick answer

Linen Veil Amethyst Purple Contact Lenses sit at the deep end of the purple contact lenses family: a smooth, full-coverage violet-black that reads almost ink on the eye. If you want a dark, defined iris instead of a candy lilac, this is your pair.

What the Shade Looks Like

The lens reads as one even field of blackened violet — no lighter center, no sparkle, no pale halo at the edge. The tone holds from pupil to rim, so the blend to your iris stays soft but definite.

The surface is smooth and low-sheen, not glossy, with no dot pattern, glitter or graphic band. The edge is a clean dark boundary rather than a bright rim. Daylight pulls the violet forward; indoors it reads near-black.

What to Wear With Purple

  1. Daylight minimal. Cream linen, faded straight-leg denim, thin gold chain. Skin tint, brown mascara, nude lip.
  2. Evening satin. Charcoal slip dress, black boots, silver cuff. Cool metal flatters a violet-black eye more than gold.
  3. Off-duty neutral. Grey sweatshirt, olive wide-leg trousers, denim jacket. Cool greens and greys sit beside purple without fighting it.

Where They Fit

Low warm light is where they shine: dinner, evening walks, concert photos. At work they read polished with a plain turtleneck and a low ponytail. For a party or cosplay look, black liner and a red lip are enough.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes — with one honest note. Full coverage and a deep tone make this an everyday lens for anyone who already wears a softly defined eye. It is not the pair for a bare-faced day, and the violet stays deep in bright sun.

FAQ

What should I wear with them? Cream linen and gold by day, charcoal satin and silver at night.

Are they everyday lenses? Yes, if you like a defined dark eye; skip them on bare days.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
