Quick answer

Lantern Dusk Crimson Red Contact Lenses are a vivid cherry-crimson pair with a fine dotted mesh and a deeper outer rim. These red contact lenses set a mood instead of changing your natural eye color, so wear them when the eyes should carry the look.

What the Shade Looks Like

The close-up reads cherry-crimson, not brick and not pink. Tiny dots build a fine mesh from the pupil outward and thicken toward the edge, so the red deepens there. The outer rim is a soft red-brown band rather than a hard black ring, which lets the edge blend into the iris. The surface looks satin, not glassy. Against pale skin and dark hair, the red stays bright and graphic.

What to Wear With Red

1. Black and silver. A fitted turtleneck, tapered wool trousers, a cropped leather jacket, silver hoops. Silver cools the crimson instead of competing.

2. Cream, denim, gold. Oatmeal knit, light-wash straight jeans, tan suede boots, camel coat. Warm neutrals keep daytime red easy.

3. Satin and patent. Oxblood satin slip dress, black patent heels, gunmetal jewelry — or a white shirt printed with small dark-red roses.

Where They Fit

Dinner, a birthday party, a concert, or a photo-heavy night out, where the color holds in low light. They also suit cosplay and character shoots with a dark wig. For errands, keep the outfit neutral.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one condition: bare lids, a nude lip, and neutral clothing keep the red looking intentional rather than theatrical on a normal Tuesday. Skip them for a conservative office.

FAQ

What color are they, exactly? A vivid cherry-crimson with a fine dotted mesh and a darker red-brown rim; the clear center keeps your own pupil visible.

What should I pair with red contact lenses? Black and silver for contrast, or cream, denim, and gold for a warmer take. Keep the makeup minimal.

Can I wear them during the day? Yes, when the styling stays quiet. They work for errands, brunch, and travel, and look strongest after dark.

  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

  • Replace your contact lens case every two to three months.
  • Take out your contacts if they are bothering you.
  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
