Quick answer
Kyoto Radiant White Contact Lenses are a soft, milky white pair built for quiet brightening, not a bold effect. If you want white contact lenses that read as light over your natural iris, this is the pair I reach for.
What the Shade Looks Like
The base is a translucent milky white — soft, not chalky. It sits like a thin veil over the iris, keeping the center light and slightly sheer so your own eye still shows through. The tone deepens a little toward the outer field, then feathers away: no stamped ring, no hard line, no dots or mesh. The surface stays even and matte-soft, not glossy.
What to Wear With White
Warm neutrals keep these lenses looking like light instead of ice.
-
Soft daytime: oatmeal cardigan, ivory straight-leg denim, a white tee, brushed gold hoops.
-
Quiet evening: a black slip dress or a charcoal blazer over a silk camisole, thin silver chain, bare glossy lip.
-
Weekend texture: a chunky cream cable knit, faded grey denim, tan leather sneakers, pearl studs.
Where They Fit
Office days, coffee runs, long train rides, and any photo where I want my eyes to look awake rather than decorated. They also suit a low-key party or a cosplay look that calls for a pale, unearthly eye.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one caveat. Wear them when you want a soft veil of light over minimal makeup — skin tint, cream blush, balm. Skip them when you want a completely untouched eye or you’re wearing heavy black liner.
FAQ
What color are they, really? A pale, milky white veil over the iris, sheer in the center and soft at the edge. It reads as light rather than coverage.
What should I pair them with? Oatmeal, cream, camel, and ivory, plus one metal accent. Cool pastels and stark black-and-white are harder to balance.
Can I wear white contact lenses every day? Yes for work, errands, and photos. I’d pass when I want a bare-eyed look or a strong winged liner.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
