Quick answer
Kyoto Glass Green Contact Lenses are a muted moss-green pair with a soft, hazy edge, so they read as quiet green eyes in daylight rather than a costume lens. For anyone hunting green contact lenses that mimic a real iris, this is the calmest option.
What the Shade Looks Like
The base is a deep, muted moss green with an olive lean — forest floor, not emerald. Around the pupil the green thins into a hazy wash, then builds through the mid-field into a cooler jade tone. There’s no hard print or cut line; the pigment diffuses outward faintly, so iris to lens reads as blur. The edge settles instead of stopping, with no thick dark ring, and one small highlight sits on a matte-satin surface.
What to Wear With Green
-
Cream, oatmeal, taupe. Cream denim jacket, oatmeal knit, taupe trench, brushed gold hoops.
-
Slate grey and pale blue. Slate blazer, pale blue poplin shirt, grey wool trousers, silver hoops.
-
Espresso and cream. Espresso blazer, cream silk camisole, camel coat, small gold studs, sheer berry lip.
Where They Fit
Desk days, coffee runs, and travel days are the sweet spot: the green holds up indoors and out without reading as costume. It also photographs well in flat natural light. At a party or a cosplay meet, keep the rest of the look muted.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes — this one is genuinely everyday. Minimal makeup, a tonal outfit, and it works in daylight, office light, and phone photos. It stops working for full glam: heavy liner, bold lips, and statement jewelry bury the soft edge.
FAQ
What color are these green contact lenses? A muted moss green with an olive lean that cools toward jade; it thins near the pupil, so it looks hazy rather than solid.
What should I wear with them? Warm neutrals with gold, or cool grey and pale blue with silver. Both keep the moss tone looking intentional.
Are they everyday lenses? With minimal makeup and everyday outfits, yes. Skip them for full glam or very saturated clothing.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
