Quick answer
Iris Silk Black Contact Lenses are a deep, softly meshed black lens that deepens the eye with a blurred charcoal edge instead of a flat, sticker-like disc, and they are the quietest way to wear black contact lenses every day.
What the Shade Looks Like
The base is a dense, inky black, and it stays black through the middle instead of fading into brown. Toward the edge it shifts into a soft charcoal, so the depth reads neutral and slightly smoky on the eye. A fine lace-like dot mesh runs across the surface, with a soft highlight where the light hits and an outer rim that is a touch darker and softly blurred.
What to Wear With Black
-
Ivory and cream neutrals. Ivory ribbed knit, straight cream denim, camel wool coat, small gold hoops, bare lids.
-
All-black tailoring. Black cigarette trousers, silk camisole, cropped blazer, brushed silver earrings, satin texture.
-
Denim and grey. Washed grey denim jacket, plain white tee, charcoal wide-leg trousers, pewter hardware on a small bag.
Where They Fit
Office video calls, weekend errands, travel photos, and low-light dinners are all easy fits. For a party or a cosplay look that needs intensity around the eyes, the black stays dense in photos, while bright daylight makes it a bolder choice.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes — these are everyday black contact lenses, with one condition: let the eyes carry the look. Bare lids, a soft brow, and a tinted balm keep it wearable. If you usually reach for warm browns and peachy makeup, this shade will read as a bigger statement than you expect.
FAQ
What color are these lenses? A deep black center with a soft charcoal edge and a fine lace-like mesh, so the eye looks deepened rather than brightly recolored.
What should I pair them with? Cream and ivory for daytime, all-black with silver for evening, grey denim for weekends.
Can I wear black contact lenses every day? Yes. Keep the rest of your makeup minimal, and save them for statement evenings if you prefer a very soft eye.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
