Quick answer
Ink Petal Black Contact Lenses give the iris a deep, even black with a soft outer edge, so the eye looks defined with almost no makeup.
What the Shade Looks Like
Up close, this lens is solid black from center to edge. There is no dot pattern, no mesh texture, and no separate ring at the rim; the pigment fades into the natural iris so the edge stays soft instead of stamped. The bright spot in the close-up is just light on the surface, not a graphic. Because every zone is the same inky black, the eye reads deep and quiet rather than circled.
What to Wear With Black
Treat black lenses as a styling tool and keep the rest simple.
-
Bare-skin neutrals: oatmeal cashmere, cream denim, a white tee, small brushed-gold hoops — warm fabrics soften the black.
-
Clean monochrome: a black silk slip, a tailored wool blazer, silver jewelry, a matte leather bag. Same-tone layers push the eyes forward.
-
Soft contrast: a powder-blue poplin shirt, grey trousers, tan suede loafers, one thin gold chain — a single cool tone reads fresh.
Where They Fit
This is a beauty-first lens, and it lives in real light: the office, a coffee run, a travel day when you want your eyes awake on a five-minute face. It also works for evening parties, photos, and as a blank base for cosplay.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one caveat. Full coverage makes this a strong look, so it pairs most easily with bare skin or very light makeup. Denim-and-knit wardrobes can wear it all week; if you prefer barely-there lenses, save it for evenings.
FAQ
Are these black contact lenses or dark brown? They are black — saturated and even across the lens, with no brown or grey undertone in daylight.
What should I wear with them? Neutrals and monochrome work best — cream knits, denim, black silk, gold or silver metals.
Can I wear them every day? Yes, if your makeup is simple and your colors stay neutral. For soft pastel looks, save them for evening.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
