Quick answer
Ink Blossom Blue Contact Lenses are a deep blue-black pair with a fine dotted mesh and a soft, open edge. Styled as soft glam, they read dramatic on camera and polished in a candlelit room.
What the Shade Looks Like
In the close-up, the base is blue-black rather than bright royal blue. The darkest tone sits through the center-to-mid field, then loosens into a fine dotted mesh that softens near the pupil and blurs at the outer edge instead of ending in a hard ring. That diffuse dark edge gives the eye its moody, deep-set look. There is no graphic print, just an even dot pattern and a soft, diffused finish.
What to Wear With Blue
Blue contact lenses this deep act like a smoky eye, so keep everything else blended.
-
Candlelit wedding guest. Champagne silk slip dress, sheer black tights, slim gold hoops, neutral brown crease.
-
Office to dinner. Charcoal wool blazer, ink-blue satin camisole, ivory trousers, brushed silver earrings.
-
Studio soft glam. Oatmeal cashmere knit, cream slip skirt, pearl studs, blended bronze shadow, fluttery lashes.
Where They Fit
Evening-first. Good for a wedding reception, a birthday dinner, or a studio portrait. They can work on a presentation day if the rest of the face stays quiet. Cosplay and parties are possible, but this is a beauty shade, not a character lens.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with a caveat. When your makeup is blended and your outfit is neutral — denim, camel, cream, black — the deep blue reads intentional. It is less convincing against a bare face and a plain white tee.
FAQ
Is this lens blue or black? The base is blue-black — daylight brings out a cool blue cast, while dim light deepens it toward near-black.
What should I wear with it? Tonal, textured pieces: champagne silk, charcoal wool, ink-blue satin, brushed silver or warm gold.
Is the dotted pattern visible? Up close, yes. It reads as a soft haze from a normal distance.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
