Quick answer

Hushed Hazel Brown Contact Lenses are a warm, mid-depth brown with a fine dotted blend that keeps the finish looking like iris texture instead of flat color. If you want brown contact lenses that read natural in daylight, start here.

What the Shade Looks Like

The center sits as a warm cocoa brown, then opens into a lighter caramel mid-zone while fine, close-set dots carry the color outward. Because the dots are small and dense, the transition looks blended rather than banded. There’s no glitter or painted graphic; the surface stays soft and matte-leaning. At the outer edge the brown deepens slightly, giving the iris a gentle boundary without a hard black ring.

What to Wear With Brown

Brown behaves like a neutral, which is why it styles so easily.

  1. Soft neutrals. Cream ribbed knit, oatmeal coat, ivory tee, ecru denim, brushed gold hoops.
  2. Camel and chocolate. A camel blazer over a white poplin shirt, or a chocolate slip under a beige trench.
  3. Cool contrast. Slate grey suiting, a navy crewneck, washed black denim, silver jewelry to keep it crisp.

Where They Fit

These suit the ordinary parts of a week: a desk day, a train ride, a farmers market, a low-key dinner. They also photograph nicely in natural light, and they’re an easy pick when a costume calls for a natural eye rather than a colored one.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes. The blend is soft enough for a no-makeup day, and the brown stays believable in office lighting. Reach for something else only when you want a loud, high-contrast eye.

FAQ

What color are they? A warm cocoa brown that lifts toward the center and deepens at the edge, so they read as brown contact lenses with depth.

What should I wear with them? Cream, oatmeal, camel and chocolate all work, and grey or navy adds contrast. Gold warms the look; silver sharpens it.

Can they be an everyday lens? Yes for work, errands and casual dinners — the effect is subtle, not a dramatic transformation.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
